The problem is right now that bots are kinda dumb. Even the most sophisticated bots we have can take very limited instruction, you can’t just speak to it naturally like you can with Siri or Google now. They’re also not particularly pro-active; they can’t learn a lot about you.
But all of that technology already exists to build bots that are proactive, that understand a lot about you, that can make suggestions, it’s just a question of somebody sitting down and thinking this is a problem valuable enough to solve. In terms of using AI and bots for marketing, we’ve already got most of the technology we need, it’s just a question of people actually using it.
